First Solar Facility Registration Completed

Azerbaijan's first photovoltaic power plant has successfully completed the I-REC registration process, marking a significant milestone in the country's renewable energy certification journey.

The facility, located in the Absheron region, has been officially registered on the Evident Registry platform under the I-REC(E) standard. The registration enables the plant to issue internationally recognized renewable energy certificates for every megawatt-hour of electricity it generates.

This registration represents a concrete step toward making Azerbaijan's renewable energy sector globally transparent and traceable. Producers can now demonstrate the renewable origin of their electricity generation to international buyers and sustainability-focused corporations.

InvestBaku, as the accredited Local Issuer of I-REC certificates in Azerbaijan, facilitated the registration process, which included technical verification of the facility's metering infrastructure, grid connection details, and generation capacity.

The successful registration of the first solar facility is expected to encourage other renewable energy producers in Azerbaijan to join the I-REC framework, supporting the country's target of reaching 30% renewable energy in electricity generation by 2030.
